Your website is your digital front door. Before anyone calls you, they check you online. They skim a few sites and pick the one that looks like it has its act together. If your site pushes them away, you never even know they were there.
Here are the five small business web design mistakes we see most, and every one of them is fixable.
1. It loads too slow. If your page takes more than a few seconds, visitors leave before they read a word. Compress your images and lose the bloated plugins. Speed is trust.
2. It falls apart on a phone. Most of your visitors are on mobile. If your text is tiny, your buttons are hard to tap, or your menu misbehaves, they tap back and pick your competitor.
3. No clear next step. Your site should make one thing obvious: what to do next. Call now. Get a quote. Book a visit. If a visitor has to hunt for it, they won't.
4. It looks out of date. Visitors judge your business in a fraction of a second. A site that looks like 2015 tells them your business is stuck in 2015, fair or not.
5. Your contact info is hiding. Phone number, hours, service area. If people can't find these in one click, they move on.
None of these require a massive rebuild. They require someone to actually look. That's what we do: we build websites designed around one job, making the phone ring. You can read more about how we think about it on our What We Do page.
And once the phone does ring, the next question is whether your team knows what to say. That's a whole different problem, and we wrote about it here: Your Team Doesn't Have a Lead Problem. They Have a Conversation Problem.
